VISION STATEMENT
TO CREATE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR YOUNGER GENERATION TO GROW AND COME TO REALIZE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL IN LIFE. TO FOCUS OUR ATTENTION ON FAMILIES OF THE TREASURE COAST THAT IS LESS FORTUNATE AND DEALS WITH THE REALITIES OF POVERTY DAILY. TO OFFER PREVENTATIVE PROGRAMS TARGETED FOR SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN, TO HELP THEM BECOME WELL-ROUNDED CITIZENS OF OUR COMMUNITY.

A Wide Range of Enrichment Programs

During a calendar year, we provide academic support and tutoring services for approximately 300 at-risk children. Over the past three years, we have expanded our services to include partnering with the school district to provide a Speakers Bureau reaching over 1000 students. Through the Speakers Bureau, we bring community role models into different schools to share their life stories with the students, including barriers and challenges they faced and overcame as children. Currently, we host monthly Speakers Bureau presentations in seven schools, including Westwood, Centennial, Pace, Northport, Dan McCarty, Sam Gaines Academy and Dale Cassens. The Speakers Bureau is a collaboration between Save Our Children, school board member Dr. Donna Mills and the Roundtable’s Kids at Hope program.

Academic Success
Academic success is driven not only by what takes place in the school environment, but also by the family and community environment in which students live. The relationship between these indicators and academic failure is well documented. Save Our Children is effective and efficient in meeting community needs relating to low reading and math scores, school dropout, and low graduation rates by providing after-school support to help students complete their homework, increase their literacy skills, access computers and technology, and strengthen their foundation in the STEM sciences. . For over two decades, our goal at Save Our Children has to been to support the educational needs of our children first, because education is the key to a successful future.

Our goal is to assist students in learning, practicing, understanding, and maintaining the standards they are being taught in the classroom. Using curriculum that aligns with the St. Lucie School District is appropriate for our target population since the vast majority of our clients attend St. Lucie public schools.
Working to improve our Community
Community service can teach your children about giving back and will give them a sense of pride and confidence within themselves. Doing something kind for others is a great feeling because it will make an impact others, create joy for the receiver and Love for ones community.
